Alicia Charlton, Principal Clarinet, Board member

Alicia Charlton (30K)

Charlyn has played the viola since 7th grade, and music has always been an enjoyable avocation for her. Before coming to Oregon in 1977, she played in the Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Symphonies, and the Bear Valley and Aspen Music Festivals.

She was principal viola in Palatine Hill/Columbia Symphony until 1987, when she started her career in nursing. She has worked as a pediatric nurse, research nurse, and cancer program coordinator. Charlyn also played in the Portland Opera Orchestra for 12 years, and rejoined the Columbia Symphony in 1997. Chamber music continues to be a passion as well; she currently plays in the Trillium Piano Quartet.

Her other enjoyable pursuits include travel, cooking, beadwork, exercise, and life with her husband Jeffrey and their two cats.
